Support XR for VR participants, gain leadership skills, and make an impact with the project
Project Overview
Goal:
Through a multi-faceted approach, BSC and its partners will pilot a replicable, postsecondary-based model to support individuals with disabilities to access Competitive Integrated Employment; strengthen North Dakota’s Competitive Integrated Employment ecosystem by collaborating with disability service providers, educators, and employers; and develop and strategically locate accessible and affordable advanced technology infrastructure.
Objectives:
- Engage youth and adults with disabilities, service professionals, educators, and employers in developing, testing, and spreading advanced technology solutions.
- Develop and launch the XR for VR pilot project at BSC to support individuals (youth and adults) with disabilities across North Dakota to access Competitive Integrated Employment.
- Incorporate personalized advanced technology into project participant’s activities of daily living, education, training, and employment.
- Identify, develop, and implement training project participants, service professionals, educators, and employers in advanced technology.
- Utilize innovative and promising strategies, including virtual platforms, that can support connection and collaboration between diverse stakeholders to support project participants in obtaining Competitive Integrated Employment.
- Develop an evaluation strategy to ensure programmatic and technological adaptation, distribution, and replication.
- Support widespread adaptation and replication.

- XR for VR participants developing growth plans
- Assistive technology library and modules demonstrating how advanced technologies can support individuals with disabilities in Competitive Integrated Employment
- XR for VR participants utilizing new assistive technology
- Facilitating connections between North Dakota manufacturers and an untapped pool of skilled, motivated employees
- North Dakota individuals with disabilities obtaining Competitive Integrated Employment
