Money Smart Mystics
Hey Mystics, Ready to Get Money Smart!?
Money Smart Mystics is your chance to boost your financial confidence through fun, flexible activities designed to help you build real-world money skills. Led by the BSC Library in partnership with the BSC Bookstore, this financial literacy program offers voluntary activities you can complete at your own pace—all while earning reward vouchers to use at the bookstore. Whether you’re budgeting for groceries or planning for your future, Money Smart Mystics gives you the tools to make informed financial decisions that set you up for success.
How to Participate:
All BSC students are automatically enrolled in the BSC Library- Students Non-Term class module. The module is informational and the activities are voluntary. The “grades” track activity points and do not affect student GPAs.
All Money Smart Mystic activities are related to money or financial wellness. Some activities are tiered, meaning that once a specific activity is completed, others will. Once you finish an activity, answer the questions to receive credit. After you complete five activities, your reward voucher will be sent to your BSC email.

Rewards:
The reward voucher can be used at the BSC bookstore, online or in person, on anything–including textbooks! For the voucher to apply, purchases must be over $50.
Participants can earn up to five reward vouchers per academic year. You can only use one reward voucher per transaction.
Vouchers expire at the end of the academic year.

Who is it for?
Everyone! You will find information for those starting their first bank account, retirees, and everyone in-between.
Where can I find it?
Does it share any personal information?
Absolutely not! The only information the tool keeps are your age and comfort levels. Everything else is completely anonymous. Note: If you submit “Sprouts” [See “How does it work?”], your contact information is required.
Is the account free?
Yes! We recommend using your personal email when creating an account versus your school or business email.
Can those outside of North Dakota use this tool?
Yes!
How does it work?
Create a log-in and complete the Money Personality Assessment to access modules specially tailored to your assessment results or any others you are interested in. Many modules include games, videos, and experiments.
Upon completion of any module, users can earn “Sprouts,” which may be redeemed for the chance to win cash prizes.

Background
In January 2024, as part of his State of the State Address, Governor Doug Burgum announced the goal of "making North Dakota the most financially literate state in America by 2027."
Multiple state agencies, including the Bank of North Dakota, the offices of the State Treasurer and State Superintendent, and the North Dakota University System, lead the Smart with My Money effort.
BSC Library was on board from the start. Marlene Anderson, Director of Library Services, and Kelsey Riggs, Reference & Instructional Librarian, already decided to focus on Financial Literacy programming for the 2024-25 academic year. They saw students struggle with money matters and believed that focusing on Financial Literacy–the ability to understand, evaluate, and communicate information 看片软件 money and financial services, enabling informed financial decisions–could make a difference.
The library reached out to the BSC Bookstore as a potential partner, and thus, Money Smart Mystics was born!
