It varies with which licensing area you want in the end, but here are the basics:
- Depending on your chosen licensing area (see licensing areas in next question), you will complete 128-140 credits total (approximate) to earn the two degrees.
- Early Childhood Ed, Special Ed, Physical Ed, and some other licensing programs require more credits than other licensing programs (e.g., Elementary Ed).
- If you want to add on additional Endorsements (e.g., Kindergarten, English Learners, etc.), this will increase the number of credits needed and likely extend your timeline to your degree completion.
- Most students will take a full-time load (12+ credits*) every semester to be eligible for financial aid. Some students will be working full-time and may only be able to take a part-time load each semester. Taking part-time credit loads each semester will extend the time needed to complete all requirements and will not be eligible for financial aid.
- *Students will find that they can complete both degrees in approximately four years – depending on licensing area – if they take 14-18 credits each semester.

NOTE 2: Some K-12 licensing areas will require an additional semester (4.5 years) or summer coursework throughout the four years of study.
